Cow Cow Cow..... The lock in

On Thursday night I had the wonderful pleasure of driving my way round Nottingham's crap road system in an attempt to attend the lovely Cow Student Lock In,

Cow is a vintage shop in Nottingham, but is extra special as it isnt the ridiculously expensive prices of a 'vintage' shop (although its not quite charity shop prices either). However, it is set out like a vintage shop with everything being individually hung up and even sectioned.

Thursday night they held a student lock in whereupon arrival you recieve a ticket that allows an alcoholic beverage (they also gave away free red bull all night), the chance to browse the rails late at night, listen to a dj playing a set of pretty good electro/dance music and 10% discount on every purchase. All in all they delievered well, I was impressed and even bagged myself the most amazing jumper dress!

Here are a few picture I took last night, not many as I got a bit too excited about the clothes but have a look anyway...

And my purchase for the evening... (£12.60!)

Photobucket

All in all it was a good night, the beer wasnt very nice, the red bull was, the tunes were good, it wasnt crowded and I got something beautiful which I love!

If you are ever in Nottingham check the place out at 2 George Street, Notts NG1 3BE (also there is branches in Birmingham and Sheffield that I know of it you want to check those out to!)

Speak to you soon guys! Love ya!

Madhatter Madness.....Johnny Depp

From the new Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland film, out 2010 one of the first pictures to be released from the film is Johnny Depp as The Madhatter, with amazing other characters such as Matt Lucas as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and Helena BC as the Queen of Hearts this film promises to be another dark and satisfying masterpiece from one of my favourite directors :) I cannot wait!

Enjoy......

Paris Paris Paris

As well as my huge obsession with New York at the moment and my imminent visit to the big apple in March for ones birthday (and various other things), there is one other city that has captured my heart like no other and that is the beautiful city of Paris.

I had the pleasure of visiting the city last february for Premiere Vision and had a wonderful 5 days there which only served to make me fall more deeply, madly and sincerely in love with it.

The beautiful streets and alleyways, lead to treasures and the most beautiful restaurants, catch Le Tango Du Chat- 6, Rue Saint Severin if you can do its in the Latin Quarter near the Notre Dame de Paris and it has the most beautiful food and an even better waiter who will keep a party of young ladies entertained all night!
Smaller and quieter branches of American Apparel lurk in various areas around the city (also slightly cheaper) and wonderful shops filled with trinkets and accessories to melt your heart and reach for the wallets! I could have wandered down those streets all day and all night, and even though our hotel was in the ghetto, it was surrounded by an outdoor market on various days and it was within minutes to the nearest metro stop.

Another place that captured my heart whole and completely was Versailles, I am in love with the tale of Marie Antoinette, the ultimate party girl whose expensive lifestyle as the Queen of France brought upon her own downfall. If you visit Paris it is also worth a visit to Versailles which isnt far away and im pretty sure regular transport links are available into the town.
I didnt get a chance to visit the town itself, but the Palace is amazing in its own right, it is still being restored but what they are doing to it is incredible and well worth the wait when its finished.

I am planning to visit this city again this year, preferably when its a bit warmer I can sit in the palace gardens and eat cake :)

Anyway there is my love for Paris and Versailles in one small and rather picture perfect blog, feel free to comment and share your thoughts :)

This women is pure style and she doesnt sound half bad either, catch her myspace Here Shes been dubbed as the UK version of Santogold and shes been hovering on the side lines for a while, whatever you think of her music you cant deny she looks good. A way of ripping off her look for the summer is to go for bright colours - tights, skirts, jackets, whatever as long as they are all different and all worn together, coloured wigs, big hair and even bigger jewellery.

Other music ill be listening to is The Almost, side band of Underoath drummer/singer Aaron Gillespie, these are a more chilled out version of Underoath although his vocals cant be mistaken. I am really liking these at the moment, go have a listen on their myspace Here

Another Artist im still listening to and cant get enough of is MSTRKRFT who I know a lot of people already listen to but I just love them!

Anyway this blog ended up being a lot longer than expected but hey hope you liked and leave your comments if you would like!

Watch!.... Nick and Norah

If there is one film this month that you go and watch make sure it is 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist', I for one am super excited about it and have been for months, it stars one of my favourite young actors of the moment, Michael Cera (of Superbad fame) and Kat Dennings, who I personally recognised from 40 Year Old Virgin and a small part in an episode of Sex and the City.

A short synopsis of the film begins with Nick (Cera) splitting with his spoilt girlfriend Tris whom he adores and tries to win her back sending her countless cds which she just throws in the bin, however her best friend Norah (Dennings) retrieves them and listens to them over and over.
One night Nick is playing with his band 'The Jerkoffs' and Tris arrives, not wanting to look dateless in front of her best friend, Norah asks Nick to be her boyfriend for 5 minutes and Tris tells Norah he is her ex-boyfriend and now that he appears taken she wants him back.
This begins a hilarious and music packed night as they all go on an adventure around New York City to find popular band 'Where's Fluffy' (they announce a secret gig somewhere in the city) and Nick and Norah begin to get to know each other much to the annoyance of Tris.

Its had rave reviews in the USA for being a great teen movie so this is one film I cannot wait to see! Its out on general release on the 30th January, book your tickets as soon as you can!

(Also being made is sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshell, which you can check out on IMDB if you search "Get him to the Greek")

Amazing new T-Mobile Advert

New Shoes! New Shoes! New Shoes!

I had had had had to show you my wonderful new shoes, as I was procrastinating the gym today waiting for spin class I headed into town and accidentally walked into Topshop whereupon I found these treasures

Photobucket

Although they might not have been my first choice of shoes, ive been after a really amazing pair of platform boots for a while but havent been able to find any that I like or not seen anyone wearing, anywho I turned these over to see the damage and was hugely hugely surprised to see that they had been reduced from £85 all the way down to a.... wait for it.... £15! WHAT!! I know I grabbed the nearest assistant quicker than I could put my card in the chip and pin and headed for the till, where the lovely young lady also reminded me that, yes, I am a student therefore could also have a further £1.50 off lowering the price to a wonderful and clap worthy £13.50!

I am so excited with these I plan to wear them religiously even in summer with florals and everything in my wardorbe, I particularly plan to wear them in New York in March! eeeeee!!
I was so excited with them I skipped all the way home!

Anyway onto more important things I thought I would now have a rant about 2 of my all time favourite designers after looking at the collections a while back. Luella and Betsey Johnson. Now these 2 amazing ladies are two designers I will be hugely channelling this summer along with at least one other friend who feels equally the same about them!

Here are just a few pictures from Luella's S/S 09 collection

Photobucket

As you can see, Luella has made a huge leap from her almost superhero inspired season from S/S 08 and although kept a kitsch, fresh and unique theme to her collection has concentrated on the opposing materials of floral chiffon and heavy tweed, mixing one shoulder dresses, with layers and frills all over the place with equally beautiful however seemingly more constructed tweed jackets and skirts for a tea and cakes with the parents look.

As Luella herself described the show itself, to wet the fashion crowd's appetite "THINK of a nice polite, knee-length dress you might find a rather mature royal wearing to a garden party, add three, mash them together, add an ample amount of sticky sweet confectionery colour, add a bit more, then look at it through psychedelic tinted glasses"

Summer cant be too long away now surely.......

And these are from Betsy Johnson's collection

With the idea of fashion either being a distraction or a distracting factor in our pockets at the moment, it came as no suprise as the ever genius Betsy came to our aid and gave us a collection filled with cupcakes, clowns and lunchboxes down the runway. Probably one of my favourite collections all season this cute and amazingly tailored collection of prom dresses and pirates gave so much inspiration im going to find it hard to choose in which direction to take.

So those are just a few of my favourite pictures from the collection and looks I will be sporting this summer, Im thinking cut off tshirts, in orange, electric blue and white with a variety of shorts and huge mini skirts and tutu's with huge heels and maybe even a flicker of lacy socks!

Comment me and tell me what your thinking of wearing this summer!

xoxo
